" When I knew I wanted to write songs, I asked myself the question, ”What do I want to say?”
And the very simple basic answer that I had when I first started writing songs was, ”I want to talk about the things that I don’t normally get to talk about”.
Talking about purpose, and struggle, and things that you don’t like about life. You don’t really have casual conversations with people about these things. Not even with your close friends sometimes.
So, for me song-writing was a moment to kind of get out what it is that I felt like was not being said. And when I started showing people my songs, it was weird, because they were looking inside a part of me that I had never shown anyone before.
But that same emotion, those same lyrics that I was at first a little bashful to show people, are the very reasons why we can play the same song every night, and still feel what that song is saying.”
